Marketing promotions are used in many types of businesses, and a home-based Internet business is no exception. If your Internet business is a product or service based as opposed to an affiliate or network marketing program, you might offer discounted prices for a specified time or for the first whatever number of customers. The easiest way to bring in new prospects or to give notice of a new business is through a promotion of some type.

Of course, not all Internet home businesses lend themselves to the concept of a marketing promotion. For example, if you are into network marketing, the parent company or product providor dictates your promotion. You can, of course, discount your own prices and take less commission, but you are unable to control pricing unless you are willing to take a loss. In that case, you may choose to offer some additional reward points or a similar type of promotion for the first customers that sign up within a certain time frame, which you designate. You may also choose to offer free promotional products or another type of incentive bonus to those who come into the network right away, or in the case of an affiliate membership, perhaps a lower product price for those who order from your site within a certain time frame.

Marketing promotion can be used to enhance many different types of businesses, and the same is true for an Internet home business. You just have to be more innovative in your promotional approach if you have a business that is not sales or service oriented.
